Over the last couple of weeks I have been looking into Google Apps. The really is a lot to offer to assist with business efficiency and inner office communication.
I had played briefly with Amazon Cloud Services, and even had created an account and and mySQL database. Having looked at and played with both, I think that Google will prevail in this battle.
I really like the idea of all my data being under one roof. It makes it dead easy to find things which improves even my own efficiency. Using LastPass for password management helped a great deal, but with my own accounts and all of our general office accounts, things were getting unwieldy.
Over the last couple of days we have started to pull things together and merging accounts. It’s actually very time consuming since often data has to be copied down and then back up to the Google servers. We tried to merge accounts, but Google in most cases simply did not allow it.
So all in all, not a lot of time for side projects, but I am looking forward to getting back at it.
